A Review of the Lund Genesis Seal and Peel Tonneau Cover

The Lund Seal and Peal is a departure -and perhaps improvement - on the traditional, Velcro soft truck tonneau covers. It's a great product with a lot of plus points; however, there are one or two little things you should consider before you buy.

Lund is a well respected manufacturer of automotive parts so it comes as no surprise that it also makes some of the best soft tonneau covers on the market. If you want anything but soft - like fiberglass, aluminum or polymer, then you'll need to look elsewhere, but if you're after a soft version, the Lund will have a design to suit your needs.

Like all of the company's tonno covers, the Seal and Peel is made from tough, high quality vinyl that comes pre-mounted on powder coated black aluminum rails and bows. Fitting requires no tools or drilling and installation can be completed in minutes (most of the time). But what makes this particular cover of special interest is the tongue and groove system used to open and close the tarp.

Velcro systems do have a number of problems; dirt and other debris can get stuck in the Velcro, which leads to a less than flush finish. Also, unless you use two hands to seal the tarp, you can sometimes get kinks in the tarp. The Seal & Peel tonno does away with both of these minor annoyances.

Ease of installation and access are the two biggest plus points but nothing is perfect and the cover does have some areas that perhaps could be improved on.

First, the cover comes with 3 clamps provided on each side of the truck bed. This is perfectly adequate for most trucks but if your truck's bed is over 6 feet in length you might wish for four.

The next couple of points are minor but important to some folks.

The cover works fine, the seal system is very secure and the tarp is weatherproof, however, the tarp may appear to be a little loose to some and can flap around slightly a little at highway speeds.

It's also not the most 'flush' of soft covers. If you really want one with a lower profile you might be interested in looking at another brand like the Access Vanish tonneau cover.

The above are more of a wish list than serious complaints. Lund tonneau covers are an excellent investment and offer great value for money. You could certainly do a lot worse than fit one of its covers to your truck.
