What Is The Best Folding Tonneau Cover?

If you've decided to buy a folding tonneau cover you can rest assured that you've made the right decision. However, if you're still in doubt as to which is the best folding tonno for your truck, here's a recommendation on two brands.

A folding truck cover is by far the most versatile of covers. They're hinged like hard versions but they can be folding right back to give you complete access to your truck's cargo bed. And, unlike soft versions, opening and closing them is child's play; no more fiddly snaps or Velcro strips.

But what is the best folding truck cover? The following two brands are, in my opinion, the best you can fit to your vehicle.

The Extang Trifecta Tonneau Cover

Extang has been making tonneaus for a long time and has built itself a very fine reputation as a manufacturer of truck covers. The Trifecta is the company's folding version and is a beautifully made cover. It's a soft cover and you have a choice of two fabrics: traditional heavy-duty commercial grade vinyl or the new Signature Series fabric. Both fabrics are integrated with a sturdy, spring mounted aluminum frame. Being made this way makes installation a simple affair; anyone can fit the cover without the need for special tools or drilling.

As the name suggests, it's a tri-fold vinyl cover. Each section is hinged with glass filled nylon fittings that ensures longevity and reliability. Other standard features include; 45 degree steel corner brackets, 'SafetyKlamps' (which makes for easy installation), and 'SpeedKlamps' that operate with a spring action handle on the tail section for instant fasten and release - the clamp conveniently stows away inside rail when not in use.

The Lund Genesis Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover

It's hard to find a competitor that matches the Extang Trifecta, but the Lund Tri-Fold does. It's another vinyl cover with an integrated aluminum frame, so installation is just as easy as the Extang - in fact, it's possibly even quicker to install. Also, the aluminum frame is black powder coated so it perfectly complements the cover. Again, there are easy to fix clamps to secure the cover to the rails of the truck - perhaps not as robust as the Extang, but will certainly do the job in all but the most extreme of conditions. Another big plus is that the Lund folding tonneau cover is cheaper - something to bear in mind if budget is an issue.

I can't really separate either of these two fine folding tonneau covers. They are among the very best and whichever you choose will depend on what features you want and on your budget.

Following the links for both the Extang Trifecta Tonneau Cover and the Lund Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover and make up your own mind on which one is the best folding tonneau cover for your truck.
